EASA Night Rating (Aeroplane)
The aim of the Night Rating course is to train holders of a pilot licence issued in accordance with Part-FCL.810 to exercise the privileges of their licence at night.
The minimum age is 17 years old.
No formal academic qualifications are required, however, students will benefit from a having a basic understanding of Maths and Physics.
Trainees must hold valid medical certificate issued in accordance with Part-MED.
Before participating the applicant must be a holder of a PPL(A).
Note: The training for the Night Rating course can be integrated with that for a PPL(A), or completed as a stand-alone rating.
A student must demonstrate evidence of English language proficiency equivalent to at least ICAO Level 4.
The flying training shall comprise a total of at least 5 hours night flight. The 5 hours flight time in aeroplanes shall be completed at night comprising 3 hours of dual instruction including at least 1 hour of cross-country navigation (of at least 50 km) and 5 solo take-offs and 5 solo full-stop landings.
The theoretical knowledge instruction includes classroom lectures, tutorials, long briefings, and directed private study.During the training the applicant should be familiar with the following items:
The Night Rating course consists of 5 hours of Theoretical Knowledge Instruction
The Night Rating course will be conducted either full-time or part-time to suit candidate requirements. Full-time courses will operate 5 days a week from 14:00 to 20:30 or later, if required to accommodate official night. The course is expected to take a minimum of 3 days but is subject to weather. Part-time course are expected to take a minimum of 5 working days and maximum of 7 working days. The course will integrate the ground theoretical training, briefings, and airborne exercises.
