The aim of the course

The aim of the ATPL(A) Theoretical Distance Learning course is to train holders of a pilot licence issued in accordance with Part-FCL Subpart F Section 1.

Pre-entry requirements

Minimum ageThe minimum age is 21 years of age.
Educational requirementsNo formal academic qualifications are required,
however, students will benefit from a having
a basic understanding of Maths and Physics.
Medical requirementsTrainees must hold valid medical class 1 certificate
issued in accordance with Part-MED.
General requirementsBefore participating the applicant must be
a holder of a PPL(A), CPL(A).
Language requirementsA student must demonstrate evidence of English
language proficiency equivalent to at least ICAO Level 4.
Credtis from
previous experience
In accordance with Part-FCL Appendix 3 section B
the following crediting shall be evenly distributed between all subjects:
• Applicant holding CPL(A) the reduction is 250 hours
• Applicant holding IR(A) the reduction is 150 hours
• Applicant holding CPL(A) with IR(A) rating the reduction is 400 hours

The time scale

The flying training shall comprise a total of at least 15 hours of dual flight instruction and 16 hours of ground briefing. During this training there is no such part to be completed as solo flight(s).

Theoretical training

The ATPL(A) Theoretical Distance Learning Course shall be completed only in part-time manner. Students advised to follow the method described in advance:

In such case when prescribed self-study period defines less then 45 hours self learning the previously described scheduled might be adjusted under student discretion.
